From Australia to Tighnabruaich
Tighnabruaich welcomed Greg and Gill Robson, the new owners of The Royal an Lochan Hotel in May 2018. Greg and Gill packed up their lives in Australia, left their jobs, family and friends to live out their dream of owning a hotel in Scotland. For Gill, a move across oceans was not so significant given she is Scottish, originally from Kirkcaldy, and relocated to Australia 11 years ago, however for Greg it was a new country, new vocation and most of all a new range of temperatures!! Fortunately, the Gold Coast in Australia and Tighnabruaich have a few things in common including stunning water views, friendly people and fantastic food.
So how did these Aussies finish up at the Royal an Lochan Hotel in Tighnabruaich? Well, after many years of them both working for a vocational educational provider in Australia, Gill and Greg married in September 2017 and decided to start their married lives together on an adventure of a lifetime. After searching Scotland for a hotel with a proud history, beautiful views and something with potential, they were successful in purchasing their very own slice of paradice in Tighnabruaich.

Greg and Gill encourage people from all over the world to stay at their beautiful hotel and are equally committed to their local community.
Although a new vocation for Greg, Gill is no stranger to hotels and has experiences in places such as Gleneagles and 5 star hotels across the world. After emigrating to Australia, Gill became the Head Teacher of Tourism, Hospitality and Events at a local college and, as a result, ensures staff training receives the highest priority at the hotel. Greg and Gill have two young enthusiastic staff, Georgia and Keanu from Australia as well as locals Miska and Alistair and have formed a formidable team in a very short space of time. All staff are committed to high quality customer service and making their guests feel like they're at home.
